   Résumé
   Roland et Corinne sont un couple de Français moyens. Chaque week-end, ils partent en voiture. Ce jour-là, ils sont arrêtés par un bouchon de plusieurs kilomètres, provoqué par un terrible accident. Roland et Corinne s'échappent par une route départementale, ne rencontrant qu'épaves de voitures et cadavres. Eux-mêmes accidentés, ils échouent dans une ferme, puis font de nombreuses rencontres – dont les maquisards du F.L.S.O. (Front de libération de Seine-et-Oise) qui tuent Roland et le mangent.
   Commentaire
   Un an avant les événements de mai 68, Godard se révèle ici un sociologue visionnaire, doublé d'un pamphlétaire qui s'en prend à l'hécatombe hebdomadaire de la route. D'une liberté formelle qui ne recule pas devant l'extravagance ou la gageure (le travelling de 300 mètres sur le gigantesque embouteillage!), Week-End ressemble à un patchwork d'articles de magazines, entrecoupé de fulgurances poétiques et s'achevant en fable politique déroutante.
